On October 14, the National Assessment Governing Board and the National Center for Education Statistics will announce the results from the 2020 Long-Term Trend (LTT) assessment. The LTT is the age-based assessment program within the National Assessment of Educational Progress, which has monitored student performance and trends in mathematics and reading over five decades.
The 2020 NAEP LTT results will be released through a video that will feature insights from Peggy Carr, commissioner of the National Center for Education Statistics; Eric Hanushek, an economist, education researcher, and Governing Board member; and Lesley Muldoon, executive director of the Governing Board. The 2020 long-term trend assessment was administered to 9-and 13-year-olds during the 2019-20 school year, just prior to pandemic-related disruptions to schooling. Unlike the main NAEP assessments, LTT assesses age-based cohorts, occurs less frequently, and reports results at the national level only.
